The Best of Fort Lauderdale 2019 Awards
We are proud to announce the award winners of The Best of Fort Lauderdale 2019. South Florida Magazine hosted an event at Piazza Italia on Las Olas Blvd on September 18. The event was titled: "The Best of Fort Lauderdale Business Soiree" Held in conjunction with Luxury Chamber of Commerce the event was $75 to attend and attendees had a chance to place their votes for the Fort Lauderdale area businesses and professional they felt should be awarded the title of best in each category. There were 3 categories with a total of 10 sub categories bringing the number of winners to 30. Category 1: Nosh & Dine, Category 2: Lifestyle, Category 3: Professional & Community. 10 lucky winners were voted for in each category. The winners will be published in the October 2019 issue of South Florida. Winners will also have the opportunity to receive two complimentary tickets to Fall Fashion Fete where they will be announced on the microphone as winners. Fall Fashion Fete is slated for Monday, October 21st, 2019 at The Historic Maxwell Room.

Fort Lauderdale City Council met on Tuesday January 23rd at City Hall on Andrews Ave. Mayor John Seiler, Vice Mayor Bruce Roberts, Commissioners Dean Trantalis, Bob McKinzie, and Romney Rogers, City Manager Lee Feldman, Auditor John Herbst, Clerk Jeffrey Modarelli, and City Attorney Cynthia Everett. January 23rd was declared Walker Elementary Day in Fort Lauderdale. Government Finance Officers Association was given a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting. Event agreement approved for Emeril Lagasse's "Line, Vine and Dine" Fishing Tournament and Fundraiser. Event agreement approval to close a road in the Little Italy / NOBE neighborhood for Super Bowl Sunday filed by Lawrence Black and Catherine Vassallo. Road closure also approved for Fort Laudi Gras event. Riverwalk Run and Super Block Party. Swatch Volleyball Tournament approved for February 27th till March 4th. Motion was approved to take action against the Pontes Group. Homeless housing grant approved for $516,000. Motion was approved to start negotiations with Drive Shack Inc for the improvement of parcel C at Airport Industrial Park. Resolution approved for George English boat ramp improvement. Approved a measure to work with FLDOT to improve the appearance of city entry signage. $1,200,000 approved to restore NW 2nd Avenue water tank. $400,000. approved for the purchase of office furniture. $160,000 approved for purchase of zoning software. Motion to approve increase to A.J. Panzarella $131,000 Rolloff Dumpster Services. Event agreement was approved for the Fort Lauderdale Greek Festival at St. Demetrios. Shuck N Dive Mardi Gras event was approved. $200,000,000. in water and sewer bonds authorized. City commission conference meeting scheduled for February 6th 2018.
